  1. Q:  What about McLuhan‚Äôs other insights and 
  2. theories, such as hot and cool?

  4. A:  Now in terms of the hot versus cold, it is felt 
  5. that as McLuhan said, that television is a cool 
  6. medium and does not take kindly to hot 
  7. personalities. This was the earliest thing that I can 
  8. remember in terms of analysis of television‚Äîa time 
  9. when no one took television seriously. I‚Äôm talking 
  10. about the middle of the 1960s. No one would dream 
  11. of taking television seriously when I was in college. I 
  12. felt that I was fascinated by all things involving 
  13. popular culture and this was probably the first 
  14. term of analysis I can remember ever coming to me.
